A Boston University study has revealed that practicing yoga three times a week boosts levels of amino acid GABA, which helps fight depression and anxiety and is essential for a relaxed mind. The 12 week study tested 2 groups of people; half walked for 3 hours each week and the other half practiced yoga 3 times a week.
It was found that the group that practiced yoga had much higher levels of amino acid GABA than those that walked. Low amounts of GABA are associated with depression and anxiety disorders.
So the university study has shown what all yoga students are aware of…practicing yoga regularly makes us feel good! Keep up your personal practice.
