Claire Belton is a professional breathwork practitioner, group facilitator, and Breathwork Trainer recognised by the Australian Breathwork Association. Claire offers individual sessions in Fremantle, Perth, and online.

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is one of the most powerful natural processes to bring about deep relaxation, healing and transformation in the body and mind.

During a breathwork session a person breathes deeply and connects their inhalation to their exhalation. The conscious connected breathing facilitates deep relaxation of the body and mind.  Whatever the breather is holding onto that is creating dis-ease comes to the surface to be released.  This process is a powerful form of meditation that is therapeutic in nature, expanding consciousness and increasing personal awareness. The breather is taken into a higher state of consciousness than their normal waking reality.

Breathwork releases buried emotions and assists in the healing of trauma.  The breathing increases the flow of life force energy (prana, or chi) through the body and in so doing facilitates healing, personal insight, and positive transformation. It brings about harmony and happiness in the body and mind, dissolving personal blockages and limiting beliefs, healing past events and unresolved issues. Breathwork puts you in touch with your true nature and soul.

A breathwork session, or series of sessions is helpful for:

Frequently Asked Questions about Breathwork

What happens in a Breathwork session?

When a person comes for a breathwork session we initially spend time discussing what they would like from their session. The breathing is practiced lying down on a mattress, and the breather is guided into the breathing. The breathing is conscious and connected; it is not hyperventilation because each exhalation is completely released before the next inhalation. The breath is encouraged to be relaxed and full, breathing in through the nose or the moutn, and out of the mouth.

The conscious connected breathing brings awareness to the amount of tension being held within the body, the breath may feel constricted and the chest and abdomen tense. At this point I may make suggestions to the breather, depending on the reason for the constriction. I am able to read a person’s breathing much the same way as body language can be read. The suggestions may include adjusting the breath, and bringing awareness to ways of thinking and/or feelings that are affecting and constricting the breath.

Some common experiences people have whilst in a breathwork session include; experiencing the flow of energy through the body as a buzzing sensation, memories arising, all types of feelings (happy, sad, fearful, angry), feelings of hot and/or cold, spiritual experiences, visions, a deep feeling of being totally connected and loved, opening of the heart (feelings of love, acceptance, and forgiveness), physical healing of certain health ailments, and deep relaxation.

How long does each Breathwork Session take?

A Breathwork Session with Claire is 1.5 hours in duration.

What are the benefits of breathwork?

Breathwork brings about deep relaxation and healing in the body, mind and spirit. It releases trauma and negative energy held in the body and connects the breather to a greater sense of wellness. Breathwork is a process for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

How many breathwork sessions do I need?

The number of breathwork sessions you require will depend upon what you would like to achieve. You can come along for one session and get a lot out of it. However I recommend you book a series of sessions to see the long term benefits. Initially a session once a week or once a fortnight for 10 sessions is highly recommended.

It becomes very evident when you have completed your initial series, your breathing is open and easy, and your life is reflecting the positive change in your body and mind…you feel great and your life is going well! Breathwork is so beneficial for your life that when you have completed a series of sessions you may want to continue to have a session regularly. You can also participate in breathwork in a workshop, or retreat environment; this is a great way to move a lot of energy and resolve and heal much in your life. The energy of the group is very supportive for healing.

How does Breathwork help with depression, fear, anxiety and panic?

Breathwork helps to release tension from the body that inhibits a persons ability to take a deep breath easily. Breathwork can also bring to the surface the emotions and experiences that underly anxiety, fear, panic, or depression. The breathing pattern and total acceptance helps to shift the stuck energy and can bring about release, deep relaxation and feelings of wellness. The breath opens up and any fear is released.

What is the relationship between breathing and stress?

Breathwork utilises the body’s natural ability to process and release stress through different breathing rhythms. This brings about the resolving of the underlying causes of stress and deeply relaxes the body and mind.

It has been 12 months on from the Professional Training in Breathwork and Shamanic Healing and WOW what a ride. For you, the reader, the training can be about being a breathworker or exploring with elements of Shamanic practises or it can be about yourself…all are great steps to finding your true self.

I have dived into all these areas since the completion of my training in 2013 and I am loving life and the freedom from fear I used to continuously feel.

This professional training has allowed me to connect to my inner self which has been hidden for so long. It is because of this unique training that I am a better woman leader today, as I have the awareness of what is going on around me, how I am influenced by my surroundings and how being aware of my subconscious emotions drive my behaviours to do what I do.

What I have learnt is that I am a perfect soul, and I now know it because of the ongoing practise and teachings provided in the safety of Claire’s wisdom which then allows me to explore mine with a knowing that I have been taught safe, loving and ethical practices. Training in Breathwork and Shamanic Healing.
I did my Shamanic Breathwork training with Claire 2017-2019. I had discovered Breathwork in 2015 and was blown away at how deeply transformative the work is.
So in 2017, I  embarked on my training. I honestly did the first module as a gift to myself and never would have believed that I could take it as far as I have. And that is all thanks to Claire. She is the real deal – genuine and kind. Claires depth of knowledge and ability to teach in a supportive, healing and fun environment is second to none.
I am not the same person who started this journey in 2017 and am still being supported by Claire even though the training is complete.

Training in Breathwork and Shamanic Healing..

I first saw Claire for individual breathwork sessions over 7 years ago, and I can honestly say that it has changed my life. Every session with Claire blew me away. Her intuition and tracking abilities were always on point, and I felt so much clarity and confidence in navigating life’s challenges after seeing her.

I started attending her workshops and breathwork groups whenever I got the chance, and from there felt compelled to sign up for her training in 2015 – a decision I will never regret.
The level of deep work we did during the 2 years of training was so incredibly healing and nurturing. It was also confronting and challenging in the best possible way. Exploring our shadow, delving deep in to the stories we hold on to, and those of our ancestors. Sharing my story, my trauma, my fears, and holding space for others to do the same was an absolute privilege. All while Claire nurtured and respected every single one of us with such care, understanding and kindness.

I came away from the training with so many skills that I can apply and utilize in my own work as a Breathwork practitioner, and in my own healing. Tracking, bodywork, deep listening, working with the chakras, energetic and shamanic work, birth, death, rebirth, meditation, ancestral healing, navigating healthy boundaries with clients, working with integrity and respect, and so much more.
